Abstract

Background: Background: When it interferes with their ability to perform in social, professional, familial, educational, and psychological ways, cognitive functions can be assessed as there is strong link was observed to be more significant for Euthymic Bipolar Disorder and cognitive impairment.

The Aim of the work: To assess the cognitive function in euthymic bipolar disorder and the correlation between cognitive dysfunction (if present) and severity of disorder, number of episodes, types of episodes, gender and age of the patient.

Subjects and methods: The present study was conducted on sample of Patients Routinely Followed At The Outpatient Clinic Of Psychiatry Department Al-Azhar University, Damietta.

Results: when compared to healthy control subjects, euthymic bipolar patients were found to exhibit a marked impairment in most aspects of cognitive function and there is also evidence of increasing this impairment with an increase of severity and frequency of the disorder.

Conclusion: This cross-sectional investigation using diagnostic interviews and scales showed a link between Cognitive dysfunction in Euthymic Bipolar Disorder.
